Jesus Alemany played with his 14-piece Cuban all-stars band on first night of the "1. Jazz Festival" in Split, right after McCoy Tyner left stage after one and a half hour of finest jazz ever played in this town.
Tough act to follow, but Cubans proved their selves attractive in other way than classic jazz of McCoy Tyner and his "The Latin All Stars" who feature great Giovanni Hidalgo on congas giving band a somewhat Cuban touch.
As a critics at "Downbeat" noticed: "The band smokes like a fine cigar...".
Cubanismo played in 1997 on "Montreal Jazz Festival" in front of 120.000 people, so 2.500+ jazz addicts on Split concert were not so big audience for them. Nevertheless Jesus Alemany and "Cubanismo" played with their heart and people felt their rhythm that made whole audience dance to hot sounds of Cuban masters.
