"For years, I've had a serious interest in African music and this experience kicked the door wide open. Travelling and living with fine musicians from Africa was just incredible because they were very gracious in sharing their knowledge and interests. I got to hear all kinds of music on tapes that I would have never heard elsewhere and they helped me to understand the music. It changed me for life. It's an interest that continues and will definitely manifest itself in my future projects."
